Taiwan Outside Taipei May 10 through May 14
While in Taipei, I learned about a 5-day, round-island excursion offered by a local travel service. I telephoned the offices of Edison Travel Service and booked myself on a marvelous tour to see the more of the country. It turned out to be another incredible adventure. Among the places visited were Nantou, Puli, Maopitou, Oluanpi, Kenting Park, Kaohsiung, and Huelien. Besides myself, there were only Mr. and Mrs. Wong from Singapore. Our driver, Chucky Chan, drove the three of us in a 10-passenger mini-van down the west coast of Taiwan. Chucky had at least 100 stories to tell us during the 3 days we were together. The Wongs During the last 2 days, the Wongs and I were joined by an American couple from Los Angeles and a couple from Switzerland. The couple from LA were Bob and Alice; from Switzerland were Urs and Beatrice. Bob and Alice Alice wrote down for me a great iced ginger tea recipe. I'll add it someplace on this site then install a link so you can see it. (I must find the recipe, figure out where to place it, then make sure I can establish the link without botching something else. Please bear with me.) While on the tour, we traveled by van, train and plane. It was extensive and most enjoyable. Here are some of the things we saw. Click on any photo to enlarge it. Please send your thoughts and suggestions to me at PMCWorld98@aol.com. |
